a market that is continually going up for an extended period of time
It can be any market, such as stocks, precious metals, real estate, or any asset class. A bull market usually happens when the economy seems to get better or to boom and investors confide in the market again, anticipating price increases and capital gains.
A bull market is the opposite of a bear market.
bullish is the adjective derived from bull market. For instance, a bullish investor is an investor who believes that the current market is a bull market. By extension, it is sometimes used as a synonym of optimistic.
