Kim Kiyosaki’s Start in Real Estate

June 30, 2009 | Author: Fred | Filed under: Real Estate

Kim Kiyosaki is the wife of Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad Poor Dad. She is a very succesful Real Estate investor and works with her husband in the Rich Dad Company.

I believe Kim Kiyosaki started with a 2 bedroom one bathroom apartment. I remember her telling the story in a book or a video, not sure exactly where so I may not be totally correct on the details.
She told how terrified she was to make her first property investment. Her hands were shaking when she signed the purchase. Her first little property brought her a measily $25/month in cash flow and she put $5000 down.

Now, many years later, she now makes over 100,000 per month (if I remember correctly.) in property cash flow. Now as we struggle to break even with our 2 little properties in France I ask myself, how in the world did she manage that?

In her book, Rich Woman, in the final pages she talks about how Robert, her husband, signed them up to a racing course. She said it was terrifying but stuck with the course. On the last day there was the big race. She started out and believed she was going quite fast but people were still flying by her. She wondered, how are they going so fast?

In the pit lane her instructor told her she had to press the accelerator all the way down to obtain full speed. She listened to him and finally went full speed and flew by almost everyone. It took a lot of courage to go full speed and afterwards her instructor told her that very few people manage it. They don’t manage to conquer their fear. According to Kim, if you can learn to go full speed, you’ll understand the meaning of life.
