What to Do in this Economy
This advice comes from Blair Singer when asked about what he is reading to keep up with changes in people’s perceptions of sales, economy and politics. I like Blair Singer; he has a really energetic way of teaching.
He said he watches a lot of CNN to keep up with what the media is putting out, whether it is true or false, because what the media delivers affects the general thinking. Although he changed the focus of the question from what are you reading in these times to what are you doing.
As many businesses now are getting tight on cash flow they are cutting sales and marketing expenses, the absolute worst place to cut expenses. As more and more competitors are going under you want to be getting your name out. You want to get more exposure for your business to fill the void. Sales and marketing is more important now than ever.
Blair lists 5 stages of business success:
- Power
- Abundance
- Normal Ops
- Emergence
- Invisible
If you are in the invisible stage or emergence stage where you’re trying to get a business going or you’re trying make money- look first to serve. Focus on serving. What do people need help with, how can you really help people? What needs are not being met? If you can answer that question and really serve well than you can get a business off and running even in these times.
